When you make an application it’s a bit more advanced than just seeing if you have told the truth, some lenders even go way back in to your credit history, previous addresses etc.. You can see if you have had a CCJ’S which is where you have had a county court judgement against you or if you have ha any Cifas which are companies who you apply for & if they don’t think correct information has been submitted by either you or fraudsters trying to steal your ID. They put a note on the record which is good because if someone is trying take credit out in your name you will have the heads up on it. I recently had someone try and take a mortgage out in my name, luckily the mortgage company had their finger on the ball and the application went no further, but i could have been in real big trouble if they weren’t. Keeping an eye on your credit file is a really good idea especially if it’s free for 30 days.
